Horse Colds - I need to find information
about "Horse Colds", how do or can I obtain this information as I need this
for a school project and can't find anything! Help!
Horse Colds Response -
"Horse colds" in the horse
world are referred to as Upper Respiratory Infections, Equine Adenovirus,
Equine Influenza and Equine Pneumonia. Try these names on your search
engine for more information. I have listed some links that I found
regarding equine upper respiratory infections below. If a horse has a
"cold" or mild upper respiratory infection, the general course of action
is similar to humans....lots of bed rest. However, in horses these types
of colds can quickly develop into more serious infections such as
Adenovirus, Influenza and Pnuemonia, all of which should be treated with
antibiotics. There are also some great books at your local book store or
library on this subject. You can also try interviewing your local equine
vet for more information.
Good luck on your project,
