Bichon Frise Pet Rating System: 1= Lowest 5 = Highest
Overall
Rating:
Our Rating: A Bichon gets one of our highest ratings because of their overall ability to please everyone. Their only drawback would be the amount of grooming required to keep up their beautiful coat. This breed is active but is just as happy to sit quietly. Their small size makes them a perfect choice for smaller homes and yards. They also are one of the best breeds for children and love attention. The Bichon Frise (bee-shon free-zay) is a perfect choice for any dog lover. Their large dark eyes and white coat give them an lovable expression similar to the baby fur seals. The Bichon's best trait is their wonderful temperament making them an excellent family dog. Having a wonderful temperament makes them great with children and other pets. They are eager to please and have a happy-go-lucky attitude. Because of their small size, they make ideal pets for people that live in apartments and condos as well as companions for the elderly. Their height is around 12 inches and weigh in at around 15 pounds. Although they do well in apartments, they are an energetic breed which does require some type of activity such as regularly scheduled playtime and at least one walk per day. These dogs have a long lifespan of around 15 years. Bichon's are considered a non-allergenic breed because they have minimal shedding. Bichon's do have one slight disadvantage when it comes to grooming... This breed requires daily grooming and a professional grooming at least once per month. Health problems associated with this breed include; weepy eyes, tear duct blockages, skin problems (allergies) and epilepsy.
