Beautiful and fun loving are the best description of the conure family!  The Sun Conure (pictured above) and the Jenday Conure are the most commonly sold species of the Conures.

One word for this species would be loud...Conures love to let you know how happy they are!  They can talk but are not known as the best talkers.  They are just happy go lucky and can keep you entertained with their antics.

Conures are on the small size at about 10-12 inches and, in the optimum environment, can live 20-25 years.  These birds require a cage that allows for lots of movement.  Their antics of hopping, twirling, rolling, and flapping use every inch of the cage.

Their temperament is well known as sweet and gentle when hand fed.  They are also known to be good cuddlers, when they have that rare quiet moment.  Conures bond with their owners and occasionally will defend their "territory" against a stranger.

Conures do best on a basic conure seed blend found at your local pet store.  However, it is important to also add variety to their diet with daily fresh veggies and weekly fruit treats.  Apples, bananas, broccoli, peas, corn, yogurt, millet sprays, and cooked pasta are favorites.
