Our Rating: Despite a greyhounds ability to run faster than any other breed, these dogs are not eager runners...in fact, they are great couch potatoes.  This breed loves to sit and observe.  They do not require lots of activity to keep them happy.  Greyhounds can be on the shy side but are always friendly.  They are perfect for children and families.  Because of their large size they are often overlooked for smaller homes and yards....however, because of their relative docile nature they do well in condos and smaller yards.   Visit our Advanced Dog Care for more information.

Greyhounds are originally from Egypt and were used for hunting game.  In our "modern" world, who can forget their current plight on the race courses.   They come in an array of colors from brindle, black, red, white, fawn to blue.   Greyhounds make great family dogs because they are even tempered and great with kids.  Because of their background, they have been bred for intelligence and are very quick learners.  Contrary to popular belief, these dogs make excellent lap dogs and couch potatoes.  Even though they are the fastest dogs, they do not require a lot of exercise and are not easily excitable.  They require a one good walk per day.   Greyhounds are medium to large sized dogs.  Their height ranges from 28 - 30 inches at the shoulder and they can weigh up to 75lbs.  See our Pet Tips for more ideas on training.
